Yesterday afternoon I was outside with my friend Sayoko and her daughters, Yuka and Aika. A few other kids who they know from school came outside too, so I started talking to them. I asked one of the girls in Japanese, "Nan nen-sei desu ka?": What grade are you in? Her eyes got wide, and then she asked me a question, "Nihonjin desu ka?": Are you Japanese?
HA! WHAAAT?! Really?! Saying one sentence in Japanese causes you to think that maybe I'm Japanese?? Despite my curly blond hair, blue eyes, and pinkish skin. I hope this means that my Japanese accent is natural. I really loved that moment. Wow, I love kids.
